Ecological Study of Out-patient of Adolescent Psychiatric Cases


Abstract
The chart of three hundreds and sixty out-patients under 19 year of age who visited neuropsychiatric out patient department of St. Mary¡¯s Hospital from January 1st to December 31st of 1972 were analyzed in terms of age and sex, diagnosis, education and occupation of parents, sibling, and referring.
Results were as follows:
1) Sex distribution of study group was composed of 56.9% of male and 43.1% of female.
2) Most frequent age distribution was 18 and 19 year old patients(each 19.2% of the study group).
3) Schizophrenia(25.5%) and neurosis (25.2%) were the most common initial diagnosis.
4) In cases of senior high neurosis was most common (42.3%).
5) 51 patients(14.2%) were referred by Dept. of Pediatrics, Dept. of Int. medicine, and other departments.
6) 318 patients (88.3%) had parents. most frequent educational distribution of fathers was college graduates (39. 1%).
7) Most frequent occupational distribution of fathers was salaried (28.0%). 8) Case of 4 siblings was most frequent.
